 Our Story

The Internal Medicine Chief Resident Alliance emerged from an inspiring moment of collective vision during the 2025 Internal Medicine Chief Resident Masterclass. When 19 incoming Chief Residents from eight Florida Internal Medicine programs gathered for this groundbreaking collaborative workshop, something extraordinary happened.

These exceptional emerging leaders—already demonstrating excellence in their individual programs—recognized an unprecedented opportunity. During intensive sessions covering leadership essentials, effective teaching, GME navigation, simulation training, and wellness strategies, they discovered the transformative potential of sustained collaboration.

The most powerful moment came when 100% of attendees expressed enthusiasm for forming an ongoing multi-institutional alliance. This wasn't about filling gaps—it was about amplifying strengths, multiplying impact, and pioneering a new model of leadership development in academic medicine.

From this shared vision of possibility, IMCRA was born as a peer-driven network where accomplished Chiefs could transcend traditional boundaries and become architects of innovation. The overwhelming response demonstrated that these leaders were ready to write the next chapter of Internal Medicine education together.

Today, IMCRA represents the realization of that original vision: a dynamic ecosystem where the brightest emerging leaders elevate each other and transform academic medicine through bold collaboration and shared excellence.
